Yoga styles and classes
Hatha is a traditional style of Yoga which is a good mixture of standing, balancing, mat postures, flows, breathing, meditation and relaxation. The underlying aim of Hatha Yoga is to balance Body, Mind and Emotions. It is a great way to develop flexibility, suppleness and strength and improve the efficiency of your breathing. Regular practice helps you develop a calmer outlook on life. Classes vary from week to week.
|Yin is a great complementary style for those already practising yoga - it allows the soft tissure in and around the muscles and in joints including the spine to gently stretch for longer to aid comfort and flexibility . It is also a very calming and relaxing style. There are variations in pose to suit all anatomies - yin is evolving so no longer just a complementary style it is becoming a style in its own right. Look also for Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Class which is a more releasing format and allows for cultivation of immersing into the present moment...releasing to the resistence with breath and bodily sensations..this allows us to build strength with gentle acceptance of the physical difficulties we encounter on the mat so helping us with similar experiences off the mat.|
|kundalini Yoga Each Kundalini class contains postures, breathwork, mantras, meditation and some deep relaxation afterwards. The practice is about bringing awareness to our own bodies, energy and emotional needs, once the mind is quietened. Each Kriya and posture has a specific focus which highlights the need for healing either on a spiritual, physical or mental level in our lives. For those who struggle with regular meditation, the mantras also allow us to activate a powerful meditative state where we can drop down into our hearts to practice self-love and compassion.|
|ChiYin includes all the elements of Yin Yoga and includes at the end a slow awaking through gentle and concentrated moement of energy. Making a complete and rounded experience relaxing and stretching beyond the muscles to a controlloed movement to awaken your energies.|
|Vinyasa is a style of yoga that moves from one posture to another. Often called flow yoga. It is suitable for yogis with some experience and is an invigorating and energising style|
|Beginners Hatha This class will demonstrate some of the basics of yoga and some of the more popular posturing. Some people feel this gives them a little more confidence when moving on to a regular class. It is roll on roll off and usually after 5 or 6 weeks most people feel ready to move on to another class but you are free to decide and can attend the beginners for as long as you feel it's right for you. If you can't make the schedul for the beginners class many of our classes are suitable for beginners with a reasonable range of movement.|
|Restorative Yoga: This restorative Yoga session is ideal for those recovering from illness or injury and desire a more gentle and passive flow. It is also useful for those with conditions that present low energy levels such as fibromyalgia and M.E. or indeed for anyone who simply wishes to release and let go for an hour. It is a truly relaxing experience where all postures are supported with soft cusions and/or bolsters. The body is able to stretch and relax in complete comfort.|
|Energising Hatha: Hatha Yoga class with emphasis on stimulating and energising postures, The aim is to invigorte the body and bring calm to the mind.This class is suitable for practitioners with 6 months plus experience. |
Hatha includes a wide range of poses including standing postures, mat work, balance, relaxation, flow and breathing.
Remedial Yoga for Back problems: Yoga for the back is a useful session for those with backache, degenerative or other back issues that can benefit from movement. It is now recognised that working with the structure around the problem area can give the problem support to impove.
These sessions will explore a range of postures that can help strengthen the muscular and skeletal structure around the back without pain. the back will be the focus and the remainder of the body will be drawn in, oncorporating its potential strengths, resources to support and neutralise the back imbalances.
|Yoga for weight loss will give you a different perspective on the body and the mind. You will use yoga posture both statically and in flow to help stimulate your metabolism and burn calories. You will also cultivate a heightened state of mental awareness to focus more deeply on your body's physiology and muscle groups, helping you to understand its more infinite possibilities. You will use both breath and concentration creatively to strengthen your mental resolve to move progressively closer to healthy living.|
Core Strength This class will improve your core strength and will be a mix of moderately challenging postures and the use of specific breathing in posture as a source of core toning. This is often included in the Energising hatha class.

Soupa yoga is a half hour revitalising and refreshing yoga class followed by nourishing home-made soup and a roll downstairs in Zen.
Soupa relax is a half hour power relax, giving you a mental flossing so that you can have a clear mind fort he remainder of the day followed by home-made soup and a roll downstairs in Zen.
